Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain (2 Days)

Itinerary

DAY 01: CUSCO – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

At 5:00 a.m. we will pick you up from your hotel and head to the Ollantaytambo station. We will board the tourist train bound for the town of Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, the agency staff will welcome us and accompany us to the bus station to begin the ascent to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.

At the main gate of Machu Picchu, we will meet our professional guide and the rest of the group (if you have booked the group service). We will enjoy a guided tour of 2 hours and a half, exploring the most emblematic places of this mysterious Inca city.

After the visit, we will descend back to Aguas Calientes for lunch (on your own). In the afternoon, we will board the return train to Ollantaytambo, where our vehicle will be waiting to take us back to the city of Cusco.

Meals: Breakfast.

DAY 02: CUSCO – RAINBOW MOUNTAIN – CUSCO

At 4:30 a.m. we will pick you up at your hotel to embark on a 2.5-hour journey to the community of Chilliwani – Cusipata, where we will enjoy a hearty breakfast.

After breakfast, we will begin the uphill hike to the Rainbow Mountain (5,030 m / 16,502 ft), which will take approximately 1.5 hours. Along the way, we will witness the stunning scenic beauty and spot South American camelids such as llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas, as well as native birds like the Andean goose and various eagle species; with a bit of luck, we may even see the majestic Andean condor.

At the summit of the colorful mountain, we will have plenty of time to take photographs and enjoy the multicolored landscape. We will then begin our descent to Chilliwani, where we will savor a delicious lunch (semi-buffet). Finally, we will board our transportation to return to the city of Cusco.
